• Context, not just theory: AQA rewards answers that are anchored in the specific business in the data — generic theory recited without applying it to the case rarely reaches the top mark band.
• Quantitative accuracy under pressure: break-even, contribution, ratio analysis, investment appraisal and decision trees appear across all three papers — a shaky method loses marks even when the final figure is close.
• Balance in evaluation: the highest-level answers weigh more than one side of an argument before reaching a justified conclusion, rather than asserting one view throughout.
• Timing across three sections: Section C essay questions carry a large share of the marks — running out of time here is one of the most common (and avoidable) causes of grade loss.

• Working through past Paper 1 and Paper 2 data-response and essay questions with structured, examiner-informed feedback on exactly where marks were gained or lost
• Building a reliable method for the recurring calculations, so exam-day arithmetic is fast and accurate rather than a source of anxiety
• Preparing for Paper 3 as soon as the pre-released case study is issued — annotating it, researching the real business behind it, and pre-planning likely angles of argument
• Practising command-word discipline until "analyse" and "evaluate" responses are automatically pitched at the right level
• Post-mock review — identifying whether lost marks are a knowledge gap, an application gap, or a technique gap, since each needs a different fix
